What Does a Companion Do?

  • Provide companionship and conversation

  • Accompany clients to appointments

  • Support community outings

  • Assist with shopping

  • Prepare light meals

  • Carry out wellbeing checks

  • Provide light household support

  • Encourage independence and confidence

This role does not include personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, toileting, or medication administration.

Flexible, Client-Led Support

POPIN Home Support operates using self-employed subcontractors. The amount of support required by our clients can change quickly due to changes in health, family circumstances, hospital admissions, or recovery needs. We are looking for individuals who value flexibility and understand that support requirements can change with little notice.

Self-Employed Subcontractor

Work on a self-employed basis and manage your own tax and NI obligations.

Flexible Hours

Accept assignments that fit around your availability and lifestyle. Find the right balance for you.

Client Needs Can Change

Support hours may increase, decrease, pause, or change based on client circumstances.

To help us provide reliable support to our clients, we ask all companions to provide their expected availability for the next three months. We also ask that any planned changes to availability are communicated at least three weeks in advance wherever possible. This helps us maintain continuity and provide dependable support for our clients and their families.

We understand that life happens and emergencies arise. Good communication helps us continue delivering the highest level of service.

Successful applicants will be required to obtain an DBS Check.

The safety and wellbeing of our clients is extremely important. Additional checks may include references; identity verification; right-to-work.
