A Team with a Big Heart
We believe support should be more than a tick-list of tasks. Our unique approach is built around creating a genuine, ongoing relationship with each client, one that strengthens and develops over time.
Where possible, every client has a dedicated companion who becomes their familiar face and main point of contact. By getting to know the individual, their routines, interests, preferences and what matters to them, we can provide support that feels personal, consistent and reassuring.
Our service is designed to grow with the client. As circumstances, needs and confidence change, so can the support we provide. We don't simply turn up, complete a list and leave, we build familiarity, trust and continuity.
For clients who require a higher number of hours, their dedicated companion can be supported by a small, carefully selected team. This provides greater flexibility and continuity while ensuring the client still has a familiar person at the heart of their support.
One familiar face. One trusted relationship. A team when needed. Support that develops over time.
This is what makes POPIN Home Support different.
Our Approach
The Care Act 2014
The Care Act 2014 is the main piece of legislation governing adult social care in England.
The Care Act 2014 is primarily about the person receiving care and support and the responsibilities of the local authority.
The Health and Social Care Act 2008
The Health and Social Care Act 2008 provides the statutory framework for regulating health and social care services.
This is where the Care Quality Commission (CQC) comes in.
How they connect
A person needs help at home.
A Local authority carries out an assessment with the Care Act 2014 legislation.
Eligible needs are identified and a support arrangement is put in place.
A provider delivers the support. If providing a CQC regulated activity, the provider must apply:
the Health and Social Care Act 2008 regulatory framework
CQC requirements
At POPIN Home Support, we have deliberately chosen not to offer personal care. Our services are focused on companionship, home support, wellbeing checks, practical assistance and helping people to remain independent in their own homes.
Because we do not currently provide personal care or undertake activities that require CQC registration, POPIN Home Support is not currently CQC registered. However, we believe that operating outside CQC registration does not mean operating outside the principles of high-quality, safe and person-centred care.
We have chosen to work in accordance with the principles of the Care Act 2014 and the wider Health and Social Care Act 2008 framework. We also use the CQC Fundamental Standards and regulatory expectations as a benchmark for good business practice, wherever they are relevant to the services we provide.
This means that we aim to put the individual at the centre of everything we do. We promote dignity, respect, choice, independence, wellbeing and safeguarding, while ensuring that our staff and companions understand their responsibilities and work within clear boundaries.
Our values tell people what we stand for. Our culture shows them what it feels like to be part of POPIN Home Support.
Culture and Values
A familiar face, every time.
Where possible, every client has a designated companion who gets to know them, their routines, preferences and what matters to them. We believe consistency builds familiarity, confidence and meaningful relationships.
Consistency
Someone you can count on.
We provide a designated spare companion wherever possible, so clients have continuity and reassurance if their usual companion is unavailable. We do what we say we will do and communicate openly when circumstances change.
Reliability
A can-do attitude.
We focus on what is possible. We bring warmth, encouragement and positivity to our visits, helping clients feel supported rather than defined by the things they find difficult.
Positivity
Always looking for a better way.
We are committed to continuously improving our service. We listen to clients, families and our team, learn from experience and regularly review how we work so that the quality of our support continues to grow.
Quality
Creating a sense of safety.
Trust is at the heart of every relationship we build. We respect people's homes, privacy, choices and independence, while providing a dependable presence that clients and their families can feel confident in.
Trust
Our culture is how our values come to life.
We encourage a culture of kindness, openness, teamwork and accountability. We support our companions to build genuine relationships with clients while giving them the confidence to ask questions, raise concerns and share ideas.
We don't believe in simply doing things because “that's how they've always been done.” We encourage curiosity, learning and continuous improvement.
Above all, we want our culture to create an experience where clients feel safe and understood, families feel reassured, and our companions feel proud of the difference they make.
